about
The creation of September Weather was a force of nature. On an early autumn afternoon, I was struggling in my mental and emotional life. The turn from summer to fall always gets me in my feelings. Whether it's nostalgia, or the mental preparation for winter, I don't know. Perhaps it's a mix. In addition, I was transitioning off of antidepressants, which can affect your mind in ways you don't expect. Either way, both the music and lyrics began to pour from some place grander than myself that day.
September Weather is a song about coming out of darkness & learning how to exist in the present moment. A life practice that doesn’t always come easy. Perhaps it’s even a skill that’s overlooked by many. It’s something I’m still working on.
This song is the start of a new shift in my music that I have been eager to share. I hope it tickles a part of your soul.
lyrics
Rain on me
Show me the ways of the world
A different path
A new perspective
Change the way
I see and hear
Lead me to the present moment
Spin the dial to brand new wavelengths
Radio frequencies
Fill my head
Show me how to choose
Without the meds and the booze
Cool me down
Like September Weather sounds
(Sounds)
Show me how to notice
(Notice)
Dew drops on a blade of grass
And sounds that fill the air at last
(At last)
The color of the sky
Rain drops in the drain pipe
Music to my ears
After all these years
